Sustainable Food, Farming and Water Workshop

March 10, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:30 pm GMT

*Final report, speaker slides and video from the event are now available*

Global challenges in providing sustainable food and water, in the context of a growing population and environmental change, are ever increasing and intensifying. The Farming and Water Action Group of the UK Water Partnership published a series of reports in 2015 that explored the links between water and food production and the challenges for delivering both food and water to society in a sustainable way.

They identified issues, evidence gaps and potential solutions and made recommendations for policy-makers, industry, practitioners and academia.

This workshop will explore new ways of working across sustainable food, farming and water; to showcase good practice with selected case studies, and to identify remaining barriers to action and how to overcome these.

Speakers from Defra, BBSRC and the Climate Change Committee will outline sustainable food, farming and water challenges. Examples of how these issues are being addressed will be given by speakers including Pepsico, Wessex Water, SEPA and the Welsh Government.

We have invited 120 participants from across the UK to participate in this workshop, including farmers and agricultural businesses and advisers, water companies and regulators, local authorities/LEPs, wildlife organisations, policy-makers, researchers, technologists, research and innovation funders.

The event is by invitation only. However, if you have an interest in this event, please contact us using our contact form.
