World Water-Tech Innovation Summit

The UK Water Partnership attended the highly renowned World Water-Tech Innovation Summit in central London last week. The summit convened utility companies, start-ups, tech giants and water leaders from across the globe to showcase best-in-class innovation and find sustainable solutions to today’s challenges of digitisation, security, energy recovery and new water resources.

Our Chairman, the Rt Hon. Richard Benyon MP, opened the summit with a keynote speech that focused on the key role that innovation has to play in addressing today’s global water challenges.

“The UK Water Partnership is a UK leadership body focussed on innovation and game-changing solutions. By putting Water First, the UK Water Partnership aims to lead on this critical societal need, promoting innovation-lead research in the UK, and driving growth in the UK water economy.

Working in partnership with the research, business and academic communities, we have two primary goals:

To convene water-related bodies in a single coherent alliance to improve understanding, cooperation and coordination across the diverse water community, allowing the UK to respond more effectively to global water challenges and opportunities.

To more effectively deliver and implement research outputs and innovation to secure a greater share of the $500 billion global water market through a united UK platform.”

Richard went on to talk about some of the UKWP’s initiatives including LITSoN, the Facilities Register, and Digital Water, which are creating positive industry change.

This year’s event comprised a series of talks, workshops and panel discussions from water leaders across the sector. UKWP Consultant, Mark Lane, chaired an engaging panel discussion on circular industry: end users and water reuse, before UKWIR CEO, Steve Kaye, opened the second day of proceedings with an insightful session on big data and the analytics of things.
