WRc Small meter rig

Facility comprises space for testing up to 40 small (household) meters in 4 rows of ten.

Small pipe blockage rig Wrc

Facility comprises space for testing up to 40 small (household) meters in 4 rows of ten. Flow is supplied from a large reservoir via a variable speed drive pump fitted with plc control. This allows pre-programmed flow cycles to be run for extended periods to “age” meters. Water temperature and line pressure are logged and can be controlled within certain limits. Two pumps are available one high flow / low head, the other low flow / high head enabling a variety of different test regimes to be carried out.

Type of Facility

  • Specialist facility.
  • Physical rigs.
  • Testing/demonstration facility.

Comments: Rig can be used for long term tests such as meter aging or proving the accuracy of pulse counters or AMR systems. Rig can be configured to take other types of equipment.

Application

  • Industrial.
  • Domestic.
  • Wastewater.
  • Drinking water.

Other: Process instruments.
Comments: Mains water.

Type of Technologies that can be tested

  • Monitoring.
  • Measuring.
  • Sensing.
  • Other.

Other: Control.

Comments: Small meters, meters with AMR, other small flow related devices.

Availability For Use By Others

WRc can quote to carry out testing on behalf of users or suppliers, or can hire the rig to clients for their own tests or demonstrations with technical support as required.

Cost of Use By Others: Depends on type of testing and level of technical support required.

Willingness To Partner: Yes.

Ambitions For Development: Further extension of flow range, both at upper and lower end.

Mobile Pilot Plants: No.

Other Info: Has been used for meter failure investigation, investigating long-term accuracy and meter wear, proving accuracy of meter pulsers and automatic meter reading equipment, investigating impact of varying water temperature on meters.
