Peru Reconstruction Programme was initiated in response to the devastating El Niño event in 2017, which caused significant loss of life and over a billion dollars in damage, the UK Government partnered with Peru through a Government-to-Government agreement. Arup, as part of the UK Delivery Team (UKDT), worked with the ARCC to accelerate reconstruction efforts.

Strategic Focus Areas
The programme emphasised sustainability and resilience, guided by five strategic pillars:
- Adaptation: Nature-based and resilient infrastructure
- Mitigation: Carbon reduction and sequestration
- Social Value: Strengthening community resilience
- Capacity Building: Transferring climate expertise
- Legacy: Empowering local institutions
These strategies were applied across all infrastructure projects. The programme was also featured at COP26 through presentations, films, and digital storytelling.
